Most babies get their first bath on the day of birth and its given by one of the L&D nurses. When you're born with your intestines on the wrong side though, you have to go into a bowel bag until the surgeon can see you and decide how to fix you. Then when you're sewn up, you have to wait until the incision heals to get a full bath.
Well, this intestines-on-the-wrong-side baby got his first bath today (16 days after he was born) because his incision is healing beautifully and he is finally able to be submerged in water. Since he still isn't getting quite enough food to sustain him, Philip still has his IV, which he has to get his IV nutrition through, so we had to cover that up with a big glove, but I got to give him his first bath in a teeny tub and it was pretty awesome. He loved it! :)
There's nothing better after a warm, first bath than snuggling with daddy in a handsome new outfit!
(The shoe socks are the best part of the outfit)
